A love letter to BYU Celeste in the form of a fictional story about Parker, an upstanding BYU student and his free spirited new girlfriend Alyssa. This is Part 1 of 4.
Celeste, that was so fun to read! I love both of the main characters already! Please keep it going! I wanna relive my super orthodox college days through these great characters! I can hardly fathom how different things would be now had I learned not to care what others thought of me all these years. Keep up the good work!
Oh my gosh your support means the world Liz thank you!!! And right?? College was fun but would have been WAY more fun if I could have dropped all the guilt
Loved it! Brings back a lot of nostalgia and makes me wonder if my husband's BYU roommates ever warned him about me: me being the UVU girl who dressed immodest and had multiple peircings, and who kept him away from his apartment for all hours of the day and night... but hey he got me to the temple and on the straight and narrow for a few years. They'd probably say that it checks out that I've left now. Anyway, excited to read next week's excerpt! We'll done.
I love this! It is hard to put into words how cathartic this is to read. I am glad it is coming in parts because it will give me time to process all my flashbacks haha!
Ummm… that was nostalgic as hell. It’s hard to remember my worldviews from 12 years ago but this triggered so many things in a good way. Great writing as always!
This is so so good, I was sucked in at every moment. Deeply cathartic even after making peace with and moving far beyond my Mormon past. Oh the BYU days! I love your main characters so much
This is great. Can't wait for the next part. I love that she is from Bethesda! I'm also a MD girl who went to the Y. Also, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is set in Bethesda.
There is an episode of the TV show Bones, where they are pretending to move something to a government hospital in Bethesda and Bones is overactive and pronounces every syllable of Bethesda, very awkwardly. I always pronounce it that way now. 😋
Celeste, I LOVED this. When she talked about her mission, I cried. That was exactly how I’ve felt. And the end when Steven was talking about her and how she might not be one Parker could take to the temple cuz of a, b, c, it was just so easy to connect with.

Thank you so much Clarissa!!! That’s so nice of you to say!!! 🙈
I love the banter between them, cleverly written dialogue. Pretty cool to see you give fiction a go.
Thank you Mary!! It’s been surprisingly scary - I could barely look at my phone all day.
Utterly engrossed! I can’t wait to read more! Incredible job, Celeste! 😊

Ok we almost moved to Bethesda once and ever since I’ve always thought it’s just the best city name. Fun to say.
