So beautifully said… I was just reading about someone who did this letter writing exercise from the point of you as their 80 year old self. I think I’m up for the challenge. I love your final point of thanking the thing itself. And only being promised today. Even as I read those words, my toothless six-year-old came into the room and smiled the most adorable, toothless smile. So, I am digging deep to get out of my cozy bed and go revel in a fridge full of food that I can cook with modern conveniences and fill up the tummy of the toothless boy… Realizing that this is truly a gift that some moms won’t receive today. The love of a lazy Sunday morning with good food, my relaxed funny kids, a man that loves me, and a chance to watch the football game with maybe a nap sprinkled in. What a glorious life.!

Awwww what a beautiful scene Tiffani! Thanks for sharing it with us. And I love the idea of writing to yourself from the point of view of your 80 year old self.

I love this so much, Celeste! It feels weird making it all up, until you realize that's exactly what the men in charge once did!

I just found out yesterday that Elizabeth Gilbert uses this spiritual practice. I call it Listening for Guidance. I learned it at a Women’s Retreat in 1990. It’s been a key part of my life ever since.

I just started my Substack two days ago. My first post is on Guidance. You might enjoy it.

BTW, I am Community of Christ so I have a weird fascination with ex-LDS. I’m totally sympathetic. Glad you escaped.

I love this! I am actively deconstructing what I always thought God was. It's unnerving, but I actually love it. Best thing I read: to compliment/love yourself by saying things to yourself that you would want to hear from others. So as I am sitting on the couch with my kids after school, I am saying things like "look at the way you care about your kids" and "your loved ones are really lucky to have you", and "you are learning to see YOUR path, and you are allowed to!" You are great, Celeste!

Yassss!!!! Applause all around for you Melinda! Love to read those loving words offered to yourself- we are so quick to self-criticize, self-love is MUCH more rare. So happy to see it :)

Never thought so meaningfully about drinking a glass of water until I read this post. Love the mindfulness through the lens of love. Feels perspective shifting and uplifting in a really helpful way. Ty.

Are you a paid subscriber to Letters for Love? I subscribed for free, but the posts always say preview which makes me think I can't read them? Am I missing something?

Thanks for the reminder of how good she is!

Oh I am a paid subscriber so I'm not sure what other people are seeing. If you click on it, can you at least see her video at the top before the paywall? Her videos are my fave. Even more than her guests each week. (Also did you notice that she totally copied Suleika's format of weekly Sunday newsletters where she writes a little blurb and then has a guest writer each week? Makes sense since Suleika and Liz are besties.)
